Individuals who are kidnapped or abused might develop this Syndrome but as I said before, it is very rare, and proper treatment can go a long way to helping with recovery. Recently I was watching the Netflix show, Money Heist, *spoiler alert* and I came across this part of the show in which one of the hostages falls in love with one of the thief's that is keeping her hostage and in the middle of all that he mentions a syndrome, and explains how that is the reason why she is falling in love with him, which at first I thought it was fake, but interesting until I did some more research on it. In order for this syndrome to appear, a favourable environment is needed that allows the hostages to develop trust and sympathy for their captors. She even met with the kidnappers’ family members and tried to help them, and at the end, she pleaded for the kidnapper to not be executed and his sentence was changed to life in prison.
